I need help from the smokers

Earlier this week I had a very bad day. It was the day that I drove around the island. Anyway, I bought a pack of cigarettes and smoked them. I don't like to keep secrets from Matt, so I told him about it. I apologized for it. I told him that I know that I screwed up and that I am really trying hard to quit.

This isn't good enough for him. His advice for me is 'just don't do it.' This was the first pack that I had since mid-October, by the way. For all of you smokers that read my site, please post here on how difficult it is to quit. He just doesn't understand.

This may not come as a surprise, especially coming from me. The key word is acceptance.
People put up with bad habits of others all the time. These could be as simple as leaving the toilet sit up, bad breath or anyting of that nature.

People need to learn to accept others for who they are. Individuals make choices in terms of what they want to do. That does not change who they are.

Smoking it not an easy thing to give up. It can be done, but the question is: Do you want to give it up? If the answer it no, then you should not.

This topic is a silly thing for you two to be debating. Aren't more important and fun things to dispute about?

If you want to smoke Chey, do so.

Sorry Matt, if this is majority type of poll, you are getting the least amount of votes.

Maybe a different topic would give you the lead.

Thanks for the support :)

Fortunately for Matt, he has never smoked. The point that I was really trying to convey to him is while it is a conscious decision to smoke, it is also a conscious decision not to smoke. I have to actually make a conscious decision every time I go to a store to not buy a pack of smokes.

To Chey. I have smoked off and on again for over 40 years. I quit many times but have always started back again for one reason or another, or I thought I could smoke just one. We both know how strong the chemical dependency is and that smoking just one doesn't work. I smoked my last cigarette on 12/31/04. Just keep trying...you'll make! Good luck!
