The end of my web site

I've had this web site for nearly 10 years now. However, I just got an email from the company that hosts it telling me they're raising the rates and that I can't use this blog feature after the middle of March. It's been a fun run, but I've decided to save myself a few bucks a month and I'm canceling my subscription. I'm pulling all of my pictures off so I've got them, and I probably won't make any more updates after this one.

If you're not already, you can keep tabs on me through Facebook.

To have a puppy or not to have a puppy?

Ah, that's the question. On Monday, a guy that I worked with showed me a picture of his new puppy and said that there were still a couple that needed a home. It was an adorable black, 8-week old black lab/german shepherd mix and I decided then and there that I was getting one. First, I had to battle Matt. We've had this discussion a few times. He finally agreed to at least go and look at it, but when I called the lady, she said they only had one left and gave me another number to call. I called that number, but never heard anything back.

So that didn't work out, but it doesn't mean I still don't want a puppy. I'm still trying to get Matt on board, because it's kind of important that he not hate the dog. It's his home, too, and I don't want him to be uncomfortable. I can't imagine that he wouldn't end up loving a little ball of fur, though, because he likes the cats a lot. Now, I am weighing the pros and cons myself and am fully aware of the amount of work that goes into having a puppy, much less a dog. But I'm looking forward to the challenge of training a really young pup.

We might start out a bit slower, though, and maybe get a dog from a shelter who's a little older, maybe a year or so. I think it might be better for Matt to have a calmer dog that's outgrown the chewing, crying, accidents and naughtiness. I know it won't always be fun and games, but I'd like a pet that plays a little bit more than the cats. And I still want either a german shepherd or a lab. Or maybe a golden retriever. We'll see what happens in the coming months!

Our new hobby - canoeing

Matt and I got a canoe for Christmas (our gift to each other). We've taken it out one day and had a lot of fun! We took it to two separate spots on that day. The first spot we went to is a lagoon off of a main waterway. We had a good time navigating the narrow and shallow canals. We even saw a dolphin!

Then we took it to one of my favorite spots to watch manatees. We only saw one, but again, we saw a couple of dolphins within 15 feet of our canoe. That was pretty neat. We've since bought a few more accessories like an extra paddle, floatation devices, water-proof bags, seats with back rests, etc. I even bought a fishing license so I can pull out a rod and relax from time to time.

It's a three-seater, so if you're interested, let me know!

The end of the drama

So on Christmas day, I had a bit of a meltdown and Matt and I decided it's probably best if I go back on my meds. So I've been back on since then. So for anyone that may have been concerned, I'm back to being pleasantly meloncholy and monotonous, but at least I'm more stable.
